Types of NRI Bank Account NRI can link either an NRE or NRO bank account to open a PIS account in India. Only an NRO bank account can be used to open a No-PIS trading account. NRI who do not want to channel their transactions through the PIS route can do so by opening a non-PIS account.
Trading NRE or NRO PIS trading and demat account only allow trading in the equity delivery segment. Non-PIS NRO account allows NRI to buy and sell listed Indian stocks and equity futures & options contracts as well.
